Charles Wayne Boyett

Charles Wayne Boyett, age 82, passed away on October 1, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Charles was born on January 30, 1939 to Elgin and Mildred Boyett in Ripley, Mississippi. Mr. Boyett was one of a kind, when Charles was thirteen, he rebuilt a Ford Model-T with no help from anyone. When Charles turned fifteen, he attempted to join the National Guard, but could not get sworn in until his sixteenth birthday. Mr. Boyett started his military career as a medical assistant. After assisting in the delivery of numerous babies he would move on to the Army. He became a diesel mechanic for the rest of his time in the service. Mr. Boyett was a quiet man but can also be mischievous at times. He built and drove his own racecars, unfortunately, due to night blindness he couldn’t continue to drive his own masterpieces. Luckily, that didn’t stop him from continuing to build them for some great drivers. He even taught his daughter how to rebuild racecar engines. Charles also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all, loved to spend time with his family. He was a jack of all trades and was known to be able to do anything. Charles always wanted a son but was only blessed with one grandson, Justin. Immediately, Justin became the light of his life. Mr. Boyett was a wonderful husband, daddy, and grandpa and will be missed dearly. Charles is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Linda H. Boyett of Woolmarket, MS; daughter. Darlinda Boyett Campbell of Woolmarket, MS; grandson, Justin (Melanie) Campbell; granddaughter, Kallie Lynn Campbell; sister, Betty Jo Faler. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  A visitation will be at Woolmarket Baptist Church on Tuesday October 5, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m and Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 10:00am- 11:00am. Funeral services will be at Woolmarket Baptist Church on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
