Carl Christensen Obituary

Carl C. Christensen Sr, passed away on May 26, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and family values.
Born on February 6, 1948, in the old hospital on Howard Ave in Biloxi, Carl was the third of five children, growing up in a close-knit community on the point. From an early age, Carl followed in his father's footsteps, learning the trades of painting and carpentry. His father, a skilled painter and carpenter, took Carl along on many jobs, instilling in him a strong work ethic and a passion for craftsmanship. Growing up in Biloxi, Carl also developed a love for cars, always eager to lend a hand and fix whatever broke down. Fishing became another cherished pastime, providing him with moments of happiness and joy.

Carl attended Biloxi and D'iberville schools, with his family relocating several times. Carl dropped out of school in 8th grade, later earning his GED at Jeff Davis Jr. College. In 1969, Carl made the decision to join the US Army, serving one term in Europe. Upon his return in 1969, he felt a calling to continue his military service and enlisted in the US Marine Corps. During his nine-year tenure in the Marines, Carl married Mildred, and together they embarked on a journey that would see them through many challenges and joys. Carl served on sea duty, proudly serving aboard the USS Nimitz and the USS Newport News. Later, he joined an infantry unit at Camp LeJune, dedicating himself to the corps before concluding his service in the Marines with a period of recruitment duty.
In 1983, Carl returned to Saucier, Mississippi, and embraced his true passion by resuming his work in painting and carpentry. Over the years, he lent his skills and expertise to companies such as George P. Hopkins, Tri-Craft Painting, and Brown & Root, leaving a mark of quality craftsmanship wherever he went. When hunting season was closed or the fish weren't biting, Carl enjoyed tinkering around his house and yard, always finding solace in his hands-on projects. While his work held great importance to him, Carl's true joy came from his family. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren, making it a priority to be present in their lives. His dedication and hard work were fueled by a deep desire to provide for his loved ones, creating a secure and loving home. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl B and Ethel Mae Christensen, his brothers Herbert and Mike Christensen, and his sister Dianne Ryan. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mill; his daughter Connie (James) Harrier and son Cliff (Mandy) Christensen; his grandchildren Jennifer (Walter) Jones, James III (Priscilla) Harrier, Natalie, Valarie, Katie, Cade, Cannon, and Cohen Christensen; and his great-grandchildren Molly and Mason Jones. He is also survived by his sister Dot Aucoin.
