Buddy Ray Richards

Buddy Ray Richards, age 74, passed away on Saturday March 11, 2023 in Hillsdale MS. He was one of four children, born on January 14,1949 in Forrest City, AR to Velma Dean Morgan and Jack Boyce Richards. Buddy grew up in Forrest City and at 17, joined the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War.  After his service to our country Buddy met the love of his life, Brenda McCafferty. They were married and had one lovely son. Buddy became a Master Diesel Mechanic and got to travel to Alaska several times for his job. He was also an old fashion country man that enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting old boats and trucks, and spending time with his dogs, Buster and Trigg. But anyone that truly knew Buddy, also knew that he'd rather be at home eating a bologna sandwich than anywhere else. His kind heart and great sense of humor would always light up the room. Buddy was a wonderful, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. He left this life doing what he loved and will be dearly missed by all whose life he touched. Buddy was preceded by his parents, Jack and Velma Richards; sisters Helen (Mike) Anthony, Diane Clemons, and Sue (Harrison) Holt. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda; their only son Johnathon (April) Richards; and his brother, Larry Richards, along with his fur babies, Buster and Trigg. He leaves a legacy of two grandchildren: Emily (Bryan) Dunlap and Hunter (Shelby) Richards; with two great-grands, Madisyn and Millie Richards, with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15th at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton from 11:00 until noon.
