Brentley Youmans Obituary

Brentley Youmans, Sr., 80, of Poplarville, MS passed away surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home, November 3, 2021. Brentley was born one of two boys to Hollis and Agnes (Jones) Youmans in Washington D.C. on January 12, 1941. Never wanting anyone to know he grew up in Maryland, Brent always told people he grew up in the great state of "Georgia", where his parents were actually from. Out of High School, Brent joined the United States Navy, where he served in Vietnam. Once he was done with with the Navy he worked in the civilian world as a Naval Engineer for Stennis for over 35 years. Finding each other later in life, he would marry Sharon in 1987 and together they would spend 34 years raising their family in Poplarville, MS. Spending every three months overseas for work, Sharon could never get him to leave home once he retired. Brent knew what the word retired meant, and he did just that, NOTHING. Prior to retirement though, you couldn't stop him from working. Despite his dislike for mowing the grass, he was forever mowing or tinkering on a tractor or old truck after work or on the weekends. Brent was a home body who loved his family, but nothing compared to the love he had for those grandbabies and especially the great grands! Catfish at Big Mommas Cajun Kitchen was an all time favorite of Brent's outside of the house but at home he loved Sharon's kale soup. Brent was a faithful member as well as a past commander for the American Legion Post 58, where he served for many years.  He was a simple man who loved his family immensely and will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Brent is preceded in death by his parents Hollis and Agnes (Jones) Youmans and one son Brentley Youmans Jr. Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife Sharon of Poplarville, MS; his children Sallie (Yancey) Koenenn, Todd (Michele) Fields, Donna (Tina) Youmans, and Eric Youmans; and his only brother Larry (Nancy) Youmans. Brent leaves behind a legacy of eight grandchildren and sixteen great grands with one on the way. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Brent's wishes were to be cremated which his family is honoring. Service details will be provided later by the family. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Youmans family during this difficult time and would ask that you life Sharon and the rest of the family in prayer in the days to come.
