Bobby Lee Carden, Jr, 53 of Wiggins, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, February 5th in Gulfport. Bobby was born July 28, 1966 in Biloxi, the son of the late Bobby L. Carden, Sr. and Lorraine (Johnson) Richardson. He grew up in Gulfport and was an active, outgoing young man that seemed to always have a smile on his face. Bobby discovered a passion for both baseball and football early in life, playing both through his school years and beyond. His dad introduced him to fishing at an early age and he has been hooked on it since, but his true passion in life has always been his family. His parents divorced while Bobby was a teenager, and his mother remarried Billy Richardson, a man he came to love and respect greatly for the Godly example he was. In 1989, after his own first marriage ended, Bobby met Shauna Coleman, a lady who everyone says had to be "God's match" for him. They were married and have been inseparable over the years. As much as they could be at odds at times along the way, their love for one another always proved stronger by far. Through all of life's ups and downs, Shauna was his backbone. Bobby held a few jobs early on, but eventually opened his own business, Premier Grocery, a venture that he and his family grew to three locations from Wiggins to Gulfport. Over the years he remained active with softball, playing in rec and church leagues whenever he could. Bobby was very active with his kids and grandkids alike, playing ball with them, watching movies, praying with them, holding Bible studys and other things they loved to do. He was a stern but loving father, one that believed strongly in discipline. His children recall that he would always pray with them before administering any discipline, something that seemed pretty odd to them at the time, but made perfect sense later in life. He had a caring, giving heart and spirit about him, always giving groceries and food to those in need. He is remembered as a loving, respectful son who always valued his mother's opinion. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and just a happy-go-lucky guy that truly believed in the power of prayer, Bobby will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his father, Bobby L. Carden, Sr. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife and soulmate, Shauna Carden; his children: daughters Heather Hodge, Jayme Mattox, Melanie Coleman, Ashley Carden, and Brittany Whaley, with his miniature schnauzer daughter, "Dolly Parton"; sons Brandon Coleman, Julian (Ashley) Coleman, and Brett Carden; his mother Lorraine and her husband Billy Richardson, whom he affectionately referred to as "Pops"; his sister Regina Hunt, and his brother, Charles (Sue) Carden. Bobby leaves a legacy of seventeen grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply, along with numerous extended family, friends, customers, and fellow athletes through the years. The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, February 8th at 12:30 PM in the sanctuary of GracePointe Church of God in Wiggins, where Bobby was a faithful member and served on the Pastor's Council. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Sean Rodgers and Rev. Donnie Havard officiating. Interment will follow at Wiggins City Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Carden family in their time of need, and asks everyone to lift up Shauna and the entire family over the coming days.
