Billy Ray Cuevas, 75, passed away on May 29, 2023 in Perkinston, MS. Born on August 16, 1947, in Gulfport, MS to Melvin and Willie Shavers Cuevas. Billy lived a fulfilling life defined by love, service, and strong connections. After graduating from Harrison Central High School, he proudly served in the Marines, displaying his unwavering dedication to his country. It was during his time in high school that he met and fell in love with Betty Cuevas (Westbrook), who became his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. They shared many wonderful years together before Billy embarked on his career as a Welder, ultimately retiring from shipbuilding. Billy was not only skilled in his profession but also possessed a kind-hearted nature that endeared him to many. He was known for his amiable personality and genuine warmth, earning the respect and admiration of his numerous friends. Billy's passion for fishing provided him solace and joy, and he eagerly shared his favorite pastime with his loved ones. Above all, Billy valued family and treasured the time he spent with them. His children held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in their accomplishments and happiness. Billy Ray Cuevas will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. Billy is preceded by his loving wife, Betty Cuevas; parents, Melvin and Willie Cuevas. He is survived by his children, Dean Cuevas, Darren (Michel) Cuevas, Dana (Shad) Kennedy, and Deanna (Joe) Russell; grandchildren, Bradley Cuevas, Jessica Cuevas, Lexi Kennedy, Landon Kennedy, Ryleigh Kennedy, Abigayle (Wesley) Mitchell, Cody Russell, Wesley Russell, and Ainsley Russell; great-grandchildren, Graham Mitchell, Luke Mitchell.
