Beverly Lee Obituary

Beverly Ann Lee, 73 of the Smithtown community in Stone county, passed away Thursday, July 29th at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She was born February 25, 1948 in Sanford, NC, one of four and the only girl to Robert and Bennie (Akins) Daniels. Beverly grew up in Sanford and was an active, outgoing young lady. She was athletic and enjoyed playing softball, graduating from Sanford Central High School with the Class of 1966. She went on to Hinds Community College there in NC, where she also got into roller hockey. In fact, it was a roller hockey game where she met Pascal. He was in the US Army at Ft. Bragg, and they had a team as well. They were playing one weekend when Bev shot and the puck struck Pascal in the head, knocking him out and sending him to the hospital. She went by to check on him the next day and they began a relationship that led to marriage. When he was discharged from the Army, he moved the family back home to South MS. Bev played softball for many years all over South MS and beyond. Not only could she shoot a hockey puck, but boy could she hit a softball, spending a couple nights per week and most every weekend on the field somewhere. She was the first employee hired to work at Sonic when it came to Wiggins and remained there for many years, later working for TJ Max in Gulfport and Walmart in Wiggins for the past few years. Bev was a friendly, outgoing woman who never met a stranger and one of the biggest Atlanta Braves fan around. She also loved racing, partly because her son Shannon races and she is his biggest fan. She loved going to watch him race, you just didn't want to sit next to her. You see she tended to get a little excited and it could actually get dangerous. Bev was a lot to many people. She was friendly and outgoing, loved to laugh and cut up and greeted everyone with a smile. But if you crossed her, you had made a mistake. She was a loving mother and trusted friend that will definitely be missed beyond measure. She was preceded by her parents, Robert and Bennie Daniels, two brothers, Bobby and Joe Daniels, and her former husband, Pascal Lee. Left to cherish her memories are her two boys, Shannon (Sandy) Lee and Danny (Donna) Lee, both of Smithtown, with her remaining brother, Charlie Daniels of NC. Bev leaves a long legacy of friends, co-workers, customers, former coaches and teammates through the years. The family has set a graveside service for Friday afternoon, July 30, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the Smith Cemetery, with Bro. Ken Riley officiating.
