Ms. Bessie Mae Robinson, 99 of Long Beach, went to her eternal rest Saturday afternoon, June 8th. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caretaker, she passed away peacefully at Oak Care Center in Long Beach, MS surrounded by her granddaughters Jodi and Bonnie. She opened her heart and home to all and was loved so dearly by all. She was 99, a native of Ashland, Louisiana. She is survived by her sons, Terry L. Barron, Sr. and Jerold W. Barron; one brother, Gahagan Lee; 8 grandchildren, Cathy, Terry Jr., Bonnie, Jerri Lynn, Terry III, Jodi, Susie and Sandy; twenty great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Steve Lee & Sallie Mae Lindsey Lee; 5 brothers, Marion, Ellis, Dallas, Dick, & George; 2 sisters, Neiva Thomas & Gracie Lehman; 2 grandchildren, Cynthia Ann Whittington & SPC Bryan E. Barron; nieces and nephews. “When Bessie entered heaven on June 8th, she was reunited with her loving husband, Joseph W. Robinson. She was a strong lady with a big heart, who never met a stranger. “Granny” as she was called by her grandchildren, famous last words: ‘I am ready to go fishing.’ We truly believe she is doing that now.” She had always wanted to donate her body to science, to help be of use in the discovery of medical issues that could one day save lives. Due to her lacking just 41 days before turning “100”, donating her body was no longer available. So, there will be a memorial service held at the family cemetery in her honor at a later date.
