Avery Walker Jr. Obituary

Avery Daniel (Danny) Walker Jr. of Saucier, MS. passed away on January 10, 2021 in Gulfport, MS. from complications from COVID-19. Danny was born June 14, 1959 in Gulfport, MS to Avery D Walker Sr and Nancy C Walker.

Danny was an avid traveler and a mountain man at heart. He never missed a chance to go to the Appalachians and visited there often. A smile never left his face while walking the streets of Gatlinburg or hiking through the national parks.

Back home, if you come to visit Danny, you could guarantee a fresh pot of coffee and a good conversation no matter the time of day. A truly dependable and loyal friend, he was always willing to help anytime he was asked without a second thought. The phrase “the shirt off his back” is one he always tried to live up to.

Danny was a true follower of God and walked with him daily. He was a man who believed in prayer and never swayed in his faith. He was always open to talk with someone about Jesus.

Danny was a devoted husband to his wife and best friend of 42 years LaJuan. He was a great father and friend to his son Tommy and always gave guidance and wisdom to help any situation. Danny gained a daughter when Tommy married Amy Gilmore Walker and loved her like they knew each other their whole lives. The title he was most proud of was pawpaw. His grandchildren Cohen and Violet brought him lots of joy and he loved every second he could spend with them.

His great sense of humor and warm smile drew people in and made everyone who knew him want to be around him.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years LaJuan Walker; his parents Avery Daniel Walker Sr. and Nancy Napier Walker; his son Tommy Walker and wife Amy Walker; his grandchildren Cohen T. Walker, Violet E. Walker; his sister Cathy Walker; his brothers Earl and Renea walker, Daryl, and Kenneth Walker; sister- in-law JoAnn/Ray Holston, Tammy/Ted Faust; brother-in-law Gene Cueves/ Shelley, Troy Cuevas, numerous nieces, and nephews who he loved very much.

A graveside services will be held at Rouse Cemetery on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve Danny’s family and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
