Albert Lynn White, Sr., known to many as Lynn and called “Coach”, age 73, passed away May 20, 2020, in Lumberton, MS. He was born February 22, 1947 in McLain, MS to Albert and Ella Vee White. He married Dana Laura Meers on August 18, 1968. Lynn has been a resident of Lumberton since July 1970, when he and Dana moved here for his first teaching and coaching job at Lumberton High School. After six years of teaching and coaching he accepted a job as a supervisor at Wagner Electric, which eventually became Cooper Power Systems. Lynn retired from Cooper Power with over 30 years of service. As a supervisor, Lynn was loved and respected by many former students, athletes and co-workers. His love for sports was displayed in his working with Dixie Youth Sports for many years. Lynn also loved to play football in his younger years, which helped form a path to his love for coaching younger generations. He played at McLain High School, Jones Junior College and Delta State and was a die-hard Alabama fan, “Roll Tide”. Lynn is survived by his wife of 51 years Dana (Meers) White; three children: Angela (Travis) Knue, Lauri Baughman and Bert (Ashley) White; six grandchildren: Brinson Knue, Zachary (Ashlyn) Knue, Meagan Knue, Sydney Baughman, Grayson White and Spencer White; one great-grandchild, Hudson Knue; two brothers, David (Peggy) White and Fred (Ann) White; one sister, Mary Alice Ledger, along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and many former players through the years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ella White and sister Judy Foxworth. Lynn will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be Saturday, May 23, 2020, from 6 pm to 9 pm at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton. The funeral service will be Sunday, May 24,2020, 3 pm in the chapel at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton, with interment to follow at Lumberton City Cemetery. Those attending are reminded of the current social distancing guidelines and asked to take proper precautions.
