William Harold "Bill" Wesson, Jr., 66 of Perkinston, passed away early Sunday morning, August 8, 2021 at his home. He was born September 22, 1954 in Corinth, MS, the third of four children to William Harold and Mary Elaine (Batson) Wesson. His early years were spent there in Corinth until the family moved to Perkinston in the late 50s. Bill's parents were both teachers, with his mother teaching math and chemistry at Stone High and his father a football coach at Corinth HS and MGCJC. Bill enjoyed fishing and sports, playing football along the way. He also loved reading and numbers, especially sports statistics. He was a member of the Stone High School Class of 1972 and went on to MS Gulf Coast at Perk where he obtained an associates degree. Bill went to work in the construction field for a while before securing a position at Coastal paper in Wiggins, remaining there for some twenty years as Safety Coordinator. Over all that time, he also coached little league baseball teams locally and kept stats for Stone High Baseball. Teams Bill has coached over the years include Magnolia, Western Auto, Bank of Wiggins and many more, including all-star teams most of those years as well. He later worked at Hood Industries in Wiggins as well for a while prior to retirement. Bill Wesson is remembered as an amazing guy; a loving, accepting man who never cast judgement on anyone, no matter what. While he had his share of struggles in life, as most of us do, Bill did his best to battle and eventually overcome them. He adored his family and was very proud of his kids and grandkids in all they did. Bill was a Christian by faith and loved to sing in church. It was all the more special to him when someone would join him, especially his family or kids. He still loved to read his sci-fi or Louis L'Amour books and his Bible. Aside from that, Bill was probably one of the only folks that could actually sleep standing up. His huge heart will most definitely be missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Harold & Elaine Wesson, Sr.. Left to cherish his memories are: his "Precious" and loving wife Tammy; five children: sons Gus (Ashley) Wesson of Gulfport, Lance (Cathy) Wesson of Fairhope, AL. and Brandon (Jesica) Daniels of Perk, with daughters Amanda (Chris) Nelson and Shauna (Phillip) Rowan, both of Saucier; his sisters Camille Lott, Anita (Leonard) Bynum of Hunstville, AL and Deborah (Ed) Jackson of Wiggins. Bill leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family, along with countless friends and players coached over the years. Bill's wishes were for his body to be donated to science, which his family has honored. A memorial service has been set for Tuesday, August 10, 2021, 11:00 AM in the chapel at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry, with Bro. Justin Wright officiating. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve our friend Bill and the Wesson family in their time of need. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
