Mr. William Lawrence Sloniker

November 14, 1923 — April 9, 2019

Mr. William L. Sloniker, 95 of Wiggins, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Azalea Gardens in Wiggins. William was born November 14, 1923 in Sylvania, MO, the son of William and Annie Elizabeth (Williams) Sloniker. He served in World War II in England where het met his first bride, Joan Julia Davis (deceased). They lived most of their lives in Carthage, MO, raising their family of Wayne Sloniker (deceased), Richard (Cindy) Sloniker (both deceased), Mike (deceased) (Esther) Sloniker, and Tracy (Dink) Boyd. His legacy of grandchildren, whom he loved, are: Samantha (Russ) Hall, Buffy (deceased) Rick Russell, Amanda Qualls, Sara (deceased) (Zach) Holden, Annie Holden, Michael Sloniker, Nathan Sloniker, Nikki (Oscar) Gonzales, and Luke (Sarah) Boyd. He also had 14 great-grandchildren that meant so much to him. He has one living brother, Joe Sloniker, and three sisters: Terry Ladesic, Alberta Hefley, and Lola Sloniker. He was preceded by six sisters. William retired from the former Atlas Chemical in Joplin. He married his current wife, Peggy, after Joan's passing. They were faithful members of Emmanuel Baptist Church and Crossraods Baptist Church, where he loved to sing and praise God. He made lap quilts as he got older and has given literally hundreds, maybe thousands to people in the church, or to anyone he thought would enjoy it. In 2018, they moved to Wiggins to be near Tracy and Dink due to health concerns. He lived a long, full life and would encourage all to give their hearts to his Lord Jesus Christ. Although he had many hardships in life, with Jesus as his savior he endured and enjoyed being with people and his family. We are thankful that he is in heaven today. William will be laid to rest at Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 09:00 AM. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Sloniker family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
