William Wayne Herold

January 25, 1984 — September 16, 2021

Gulfport

William “Wayne” Herold, age 37, passed away on September 16, 2021. Wayne was born on January 25, 1984 to William Frank Herold and Joe Ann Herold-Hall in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was a student at St. John and Gulfport High Schools, a life-long resident of the MS Gulf Coast and everywhere he went, you could always hear someone enthusiastically greet him by shouting his nickname, “Weezy!”.

He lived life and loved his family and friends fiercely and passionately. He was a creative, free-spirit who had a love for cooking and working with his hands, especially restoring old furniture and woodworking. Wayne had a “green thumb” and possessed an uncanny ability to give new life to withering plants and make them thrive. In keeping with his spirit of giving new life, it is only fitting that Wayne was an organ donor. His family hopes his gifts will allow others to thrive for many years to come. The family would also like to thank the family care specialists from the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA), Memorial Hospital at Gulfport ICU staff and Stone County first responders for their kindness and professionalism during this very difficult time. Wayne is survived by his father, William Frank Herold of Gulfport, MS; mother, Joe Ann Herold-Hall of Wiggins, MS; brother, Curtis (Amanda) Herold of Gulfport, MS; girlfriend, Jamie Cannon of Gulfport, MS; the child of his heart, Sage Orion Cannon; uncles: Kenneth Wayne Coleman and Charlie Herold; aunt Martha Elliot; niece, Merissa Blackwell; nephews, Byron “TaTa” Bordelon and Trysten White; and a host of friends and family who will miss him dearly.

Wayne is preceded in death by his son, William Elias Herold; sister, Michele C. Blackwell; grandparents; Curt (Hazel) Coleman and Bill (Louise) Herold. A visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport, Friday September 24, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. John Catholic Church renovation project. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Herold family and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
