William W. "Bill" Bowden, 64 and a life-long resident of McHenry, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 in Mobile, AL. Bill was born November 20, 1953, the only child of Bob & Estelle Bowden. He grew up in McHenry, and enjoyed animals and reading. He graduated from Stone High School, a member of the Class of 1971. Bill pursued higher education, achieving a degree in geography from USM, attended MS State and some others, always wanting to learn more. He was a highly intelligent, yet reserved man who enjoyed helping others however he could. He loved his animals, especially Chihuahuas and Iguanas, and travelled whenever he could. For the past several years, he has worked security in the gaming industry on the coast, where he made many friends. Bill was a member of the J.L. Power Lodge, as was his father Bob, and was also the great-great-great-grandson of Choctaw Chief Pushmataha. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bill was preceded by his parents, Bob & Estelle Bowden; his aunt, Irene Bowden; and a daughter, Sybil Bowden. Left to cherish his memories are his two sons, Mario Daniel Bowden, and Robert Marvin Bowden, both of McHenry; his wife, Flonnie Lea Bowden of Lumberton; his only grandchild, Melinda Bowden of McHenry, an aunt, Helen Rae Preston of Wiggins, and countless friends. Bill's wish was to be cremated, which his family is following. A memorial service has been set for Saturday, March 10th, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. Everyone is invited to come celebrate Bill's life. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Bowden family, and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
