Mr. Wilfred Carlton "Buddy" Duncan

July 11, 1938 — February 17, 2017

Mr. Wilfred C. "Buddy" Duncan, 78 of McHenry, passed away at his home in McHenry on Friday, February 17th, 2017. Buddy was born and raised here in South MS, the 2nd of 4 children to Wilfred Callis & Lois Breland Duncan. As a young lad, he grew to love riding motorcycles and dirt track racing cars. A month after his 18th birthday, Buddy joined the US Navy, serving his country for 4 years. After his military service, he made a career as a mechanic. Buddy enjoyed spending time with his family, and sitting on the porch swing with his loving wife of 49 years, Beleta. Together, they would drink coffee, and observe nature's wonders, which included such things as a 3-legged turtle that lived on their property, a rabbit nick-named "Lawn Mower", squirrels, and birds, of which Buddy's favorite were the red Cardinals. He also had an affinity for music and dancing. He played the drums, and was quite light on his feet, enjoying the jitterbug among others. He will be remembered as an accepting and generous man, very resourceful, jovial and full of corny jokes, and above all, the most loving man Beleta has ever known. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Beleta; children Exie J. Daughtry (Jerry), and Watha D. Chambers, both of Lizana; James C. Duncan (Joann) of Picayune; Estus "Bud" Smith (Rhonda) of Wiggins; Shawn Thorn (Joe) of San Angelo, TX; Callis T. and April Duncan, both of McHenry; Richard Duncan (Amanda), Dewayne Duncan, and Shirley R. Jones, all of Saucier; Deanna Slusher (Kenneth) of Loudon, TN; Michael Hill of Dallas, TX; Samantha Loper of Saucier; a 4-legged child, Buttons; and his 3 siblings, Edward "Scooter" Duncan (Gladys), Janice J. Helton, and Donald Duncan, all of Saucier; numerous grand and great-grand children, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Lois Duncan; a son, Gerrard Duncan, and a daughter, Barbara Smith. Buddy's wishes were to be cremated, which his family is following. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 20th from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. Please keep Ms. Beleta and all of this dearfamily in your prayers during this difficult time.
