Wanda Gail Allen, 63 of Poplarville, left this earth to be with our Father in Heaven on February 17th, 2022. She was born on July 6, 1958 in Poplarville, and has called it home ever since. Wanda enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, and learned to sew as a young lady. She attended Poplarville schools, graduating with the Hornet's Class of 1977. Wanda made her home in Poplarville and was a home maker her entire life. She had two girls from her first marriage before someone introduced her to Ray Allen in the early 2002. They were married in 2005 and by his own account, she was the best thing that ever happened to him. Wanda is fondly remembered as a terrific person who simply loved being a mother. She went well above and beyond for her girls, sewing clothes for them and teaching them all she could. She taught and showed them how to sew, crochet, and to cook. See Wanda could cook, and made some of the absolute best gumbo and dressing ever, and you could count on there always being something good to eat at her house. But the best lessons she ever taught them or anyone, was about the Lord, and she demonstrated how to love like Him. That's how she loved...unconditionally. A Christian by faith, Wanda loved the Lord and was true prayer warrior. She was a long-time member of Serenity Baptist Church, handling the church's card ministry for many years, and also started the church's text messaging group. In her spare time, Wanda enjoyed antiques, collecting bottles, skillets, and more "old stuff", which she proudly displayed in her house. A loving sister, wonderful wife, and the best loving mother and friend anyone could ask for, she will be forever missed by all whose life she touched. Wanda was preceded by her father, Howard Hickman, and two sisters, Linda Hickman and Brenda Monzon. Left to cherish her memories are: her mother, Rosa (Hyatt) Hickman; her two daughters: Candace (Jeffery) Bond and Lacey Stogner; her loving husband of the past sixteen years, Ray Allen, and her sister, Billie Sones, along with numerous extended family, friends, and no telling how many cards she sent out through the years. The family has set services for Monday, February 21st at Serenity Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon with Bro. Travis Taylor officiating. Afterward Wanda will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Allen family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
