Mr. Walter Pierce

Mr. Walter Ivy Pierce, 64, passed away Saturday morning in Hattiesburg. Walter was born September 27, 1952 in Independence, Louisiana, the oldest of 2 boys to Ashford Bryant and Alma Mae Pierce. He grew up in Spring Creek, and as most folks of that area, grew to enjoy hunting, fishing, and LSU sports. He graduated from Spring Creek High School with the Class of 1970, and joined the United States Air Force where he served his country honorably during Vietnam. Following his military service, Walter made a career as a commercial OTR driver. He and his wife, Janie, moved to Stone county in 2011, making their home in Perkinston. He was a born again Christian, and a faithful member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, where he served as church clerk. He loved his church family, and the community he lived in. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man, who would literally give you the shirt off his back, as well as the last dollar in his pocket if you needed it. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family has honored his wishes, and will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday evening, January 31, 2017, and again on Wednesday morning, February 1 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Trinity Funeral Services' main location in McHenry. His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, followed by his interment at Liberty Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
