Wallace Clayton Russell, Jr., born on September 11 1956, in Louisiana, left us on April 23, 2026, in Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy filled with laughter, innovation, and boundless love. His remarkable journey through life touched many hearts, revealing a man whose spirit was as vibrant as the southern skies he called home.
Known affectionately by those closest to him as "Wow Wallace" a local legend from The Dedeaux community, a place that holds his memories dearly. His boundless creativity and determination were marvels to all who knew him. One of his proudest achievements was holding the world record at Ham Marine for the fastest leg up—an extraordinary feat accomplished in just seven days with the loving support of his family and friends. This accomplishment represents the essence of Wallace’s character: a man dedicated not only to dreaming but also to making lasting improvements on the world around him.
Wallace was an inventor at heart, always tinkering, improving, and turning ideas into reality. His mind never rested, filled with new ways to enhance the ordinary. Those who were lucky enough to witness his relentless creativity remember a man who could fix nearly anything, all with a sparkle in his eye and a chuckle that was unmistakably his own.
He was, in the most delightful sense, "crazy"—a term embraced with affection as it captured his playful humor and unpredictable charm. A golden glove boxer, Wallace’s toughness was mirrored only by his giant heart. Those who ever tried to get a word in edgewise with him soon learned that he was more than happy to carry the conversation—with a wit and warmth that drew people in rather than pushed them away.
Fishing and hunting were among Wallace’s cherished pastimes, along with doing yard work and throwing knives, activities that brought him peace and satisfaction. His greatest joy, however, came from working on his boat, a symbol of his love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures that sustained him throughout his life.
Wallace was a devoted family man who loved his grandbabies—Denna Jordan, Layton Jordan, and Elijah Russell—deeply, as well as his daughter Clanay “NayNay” Russell. His son, Asa Hoda “AsaKat,” was equally cherished. Known by the tender nickname “Cupcake” within their close circle, his daughter held a special place in his heart that was evident to all who witnessed their bond.
He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Paul Boudreaux, his ex-wife Laura Annette Russell, and the extended family that surrounded him with care. Though his mother Betty Boudreaux, father Wallace Russell, Sr., stepfather Harold Boudreaux, sisters Susie Assabedo, Trudy Lott, Robin Pascual, brothers Dent Russell and James Russell, and nephew CJ Chaney have passed on before him, their memories weave through the fabric of Wallace’s life, influencing the man he became.
Wallace Clayton Russell, Jr. was a man who embodied strength and kindness in equal measure, a man whose love for family and passion for life were his true gifts to us all. As friends and family say their farewells, they hold onto the vivid memories of his laughter, his wild humor, and his unstoppable spirit. In every invention, every joke, and every hunt, Wallace left a mark—a reminder that a life well-lived is one full of love, joy, and the courage to be wonderfully, wholeheartedly oneself.
Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Russell family and ask you keep them in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come.
