Wallace Danny Chapman

November 12, 1951 — March 2, 2024

Wiggins

Wallace Danny Chapman, 72, passed away March 02, 2024 at his home in Wiggins, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 12, 1951 in Biloxi, part of a family of thirteen, and the son of Wallace Jennings and Eugenie Helen (Cruse) Chapman. He grew up on the point in Biloxi where he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and hanging out with friends. Now he was a rambunctious guy growing up, and his reputation precedes him as they say, but there was never a dull moment when he was around. Known as Wallace to some, Danny to others, Dan to a few, and even Chappy along the way, he attended Biloxi and Stone County schools. After his academic pursuits, he went to work at IP in Wiggins, which later became Hood Industries. After a few years there, Wallace decided to join the law enforcement community and became an officer with the Wiggins Police Department. He spent some 14 years there before moving to the Stone County Regional Correctional Facility as a corrections officer. Wallace spent several years there before retiring in 2018. Even after retiring, he remained there part-time for a while because he truly enjoyed what he did. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, and Pawpaw. He loved his family, and his daughters saw him as their hero. Ever there for them no matter what, Wallace worked and provided for his wife and family. He supported them and was very proud of their accomplishments in life, for which they all credit his support and guidance. Wallace enjoyed doing things around his home. Maintaining his yard, tinkering in his shed, and trying to fix anything that had a problem were his focus every day. When he wasn't doing that, he could normally be found sitting on the porch, relaxing and visiting with whomever stopped by. He loved spending time with his family, especially camping out at Flint Creek. They recall many trips over the years where many memories were made. To sum up his life in a brief space like this isn't possible, as his life touched so many through the years. He was highly respected by all his co-workers over the years, as well as the many friends and acquaintances he made along the way. Wallace will be forever missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Wallace Chapman and Helen Muffler; siblings Dennis Chapman, Lorraine Dawson, and Helen Chapman. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife and soulmate for over 51 years, Rhoda Marie (Collier) Chapman; their daughters: Tonya (Mike) Farmer of Big Level, Matilda (Derrell) Kennedy of Wiggins, and Helen (Philip) Clark, also of Wiggins; his brothers and sisters: Frank (Rose) Chapman, Mildred Brown, David Muffler, Mike (Arlene) Muffler, Tommy (Nikole) Muffler, Willie (Amanda) Muffler, Mary (Jeff) Judd, Toni Morgan, and Jean (John) Runciman. Wallace leaves a legacy of eight grandchildren, ten great-grands, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends as well. His final wishes were to have simple services, which his family is honoring. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 6th at 2:00 PM in the Sumrall Cemetery in Perkinston. In lieu of floral arrangements, please consider a donation to the family to help offsett funeral expenses, which can be made using the donations tab above. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Chapman family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
