Carriere

Virginia Ellen (Mason) Dillard, 71, of Carriere, MS, entered her heavenly rest on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell, LA. Ginger, as she was most lovingly known, was born on January 13, 1953, in Picayune, MS, to her parents Willie Doyle and Mildred Odell (Stockstill) Mason. A native of Picayune, MS, Ginger was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and cousin. Ginger gave selflessly of herself to help with any and all needs of family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Ginger is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Mildred Mason; one brother, Hebert Glenn Mason; and her precious infant daughter, Marinda Ellen Dillard. Left to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 55 years, Douglas A. Dillard; two daughters, Sandra Ellen (Dewayne) Peters, and Judy Lynn Dillard; one son, Aaron (Tasha) Dillard; two sisters, Juana Dean (John) Hyatt, and Ceilia Maxine (Jeff) Swann; and four brothers, Roger Doyle Mason; Alvin Lenn (LaWanna) Mason, Donald Ray (Susan) Mason; and Jeffery Alan (Kimberly) Mason. Ginger leaves a legacy of four grandchildren, Chad Douglas Dillard, Logan Paul Peters, Jaelyn Paige Lorraine Dillard, and Jenna Grace Caroline Dillard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whom she loved very much. Services for Ginger will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Greater Life Apostolic Church in Carriere, beginning at 12'o clock noon with interment to directly follow at the church cemetery. Reverend Ted Strain will be officiating the service.  Pallbearers will be Chad Dillard, Logan Peters, Jeff Mason, Brandon Mason, Gavin Mason, Glenn Mason, Carter Gibson, and Justin Billiot; honorary pallbearers will be Roger Mason, Don Mason, and Alvie Mason. The family would like to personally thank Ginger's nurse, Laci Baker with Amedisys Homecare, for the compassion and love she poured into Ginger's care.
