In Loving Memory of, U.S. Air Force, Retired (Master Sergeant) Darrell Lynn McDaniel (Mac)

June 13, 1957 – July 31, 2026

With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Darrell Lynn McDaniel (Mac), who entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2026, at the age of 69 peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Born on June 13, 1957, in Union City, Tennessee, Darrell was the son of the late John D. McDaniel and Glynell “Nell” McDaniel. He graduated from Obion County Central High School with the Class of 1975 before proudly enlisting in the United States Air Force. For 24 years, Darrell faithfully served his country, traveling the world with his wife and 2 sons; while exemplifying honor, integrity, and selfless dedication. His military career reflected the quiet strength and unwavering commitment that would define every aspect of his life.

On June 20, 1980, Darrell married the love of his life, Amy Walker McDaniel. Together they shared 48 loving and blissful years together, building a life filled with faith, laughter, unwavering devotion, and unconditional love. Their family became the center of Darrell’s world, and there was nothing he treasured more than being surrounded by those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. McDaniel and Glynell “Nell” McDaniel and his grandparents, Mayo Moore, L. D. McDaniel, Eva Tanner, and Glenn Tanner.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years together, Amy Walker McDaniel; his sons, John D. McDaniel and his wife, Kasi, and James G. McDaniel and his wife, Brittany; His sister Eva Deniece “Sissy” Ursery(Mike-deceased), and his brothers, Doyle Lane “Bub” McDaniel and wife, Lisa, and Barry Kent McDaniel and wife, Kim.

He was a proud and loving grandfather to- Michael (Sommer), Christian, Savanna, Hunter, Alexandria, Ellis, Ann Archer, Kenlee, and Lawson. He was also an adoring great-grandfather to his great-grandchildren: Elijah, Niklaus, Kolton, Rebekah, Finn, Wyatt, Gracie, Beaux, and Lukas. All of them brought immense joy to his life. He also adored many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Outside of his family, Darrell found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He was a devoted fan of Ole Miss football and the St. Louis Cardinals, He also shared a special bond with his childhood horse Cindy and with his faithful dog, Boomer, whose companionship brought him comfort and countless happy moments.

In his final months, Darrell faced tremendous health challenges with remarkable courage, dignity, and resilience. Though his battle was difficult, he never faced it alone. Surrounded by the unwavering love of his family, he demonstrated the same strength and determination that had guided him throughout his life. His perseverance became an inspiration to everyone privileged to walk beside him during his journey.

Darrell will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, loyal brother, faithful friend, and proud American veteran. His quiet wisdom, generous heart, faith, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is now at peace. His legacy of love, service, and unwavering devotion to family will never be forgotten.

Services for Mac will be held at the Biloxi National Cemetery and will be made available once scheduled.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the McDaniel family during this time, and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days ahead.
