Tyrone Joseph Chris

November 29, 1967 — September 4, 2025

Tyrone Joseph Chris, age 57, passed away on September 4, 2025 in Gulfport, MS. He was born on November 29, 1967 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Tyrone Chris was a man whose life was built on love, hard work, and devotion to family. A fearless and dedicated father, he never believed in missing work and gave everything he had to those he loved. He was tough, loyal, and kind—a man who would give the shirt off his back without hesitation.

Tyrone had a deep love for the simple joys in life. He cherished time on the water fishing and fixing boats, and he loved riding around with his grandkids on the golf cart, playing jokes, and making them laugh. His love for cooking showed in his famous Sunday Big Breakfasts and in the way he treated everyone—friends and family alike—as welcome at his table. Even his beloved dog, Peaches, was treated like an equal, sharing meals and affection like any member of the family.

He enjoyed traveling for work, especially to Las Vegas, where he also loved to visit the casinos for fun. Whether eating fajitas with family, joking with friends, or just enjoying being surrounded by those he loved, Tyrone always found a way to make life brighter. He had a gift for turning strangers into friends, and friends into family, leaving no one without a smile.

Above all, Tyrone was a family man—loving, loyal, and full of life. He leaves behind memories filled with laughter, warmth, and the deep love he gave so freely.

Tyrone is preceded by his parents, Joseph Barr and Patricia Gendusa; and brother, Micheal Chris. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Lea Ann Chris; children, Jennifer Chris, Tanner (Madison) Chris, Logan (Morgan) Chris; grandchildren, Addison Geisler, Shane Geisler, Dylan Geisler, Tanner “TJ” Chris Jr., Carson Chris, Logan “LJ” Chris Jr., and Elijah Tindol Chris; brothers, Gary Chris, David Chris, and Joey Barr; sisters, Deana (Tim) Seymour, Lisa (Robert) Thompson, and Gloria Chris.
