Thomas Larry Haley, known to everyone as Larry, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023 at the age of 78, in Saucier, MS. He was born on October 25, 1945 in Biloxi, MS to Thomas and Lily Haley. Larry was a man of faith, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His life was surely one of service and dedication. He proudly served in the Army Reserves with the 305th Field Hospital and protected his community as a member of the Gulfport Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff's Department. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner of Haley's Auto and Truck Salvage and Holly Berry Hills Christmas Tree Farm. Larry's commitment to his community was evident through his involvement with the Gideon's Association International, J.L.Power Lodge 416, and the Board of Directors for the MCCC Wesley Foundation. As a Sunday School Teacher, Lay Leader, and member of White Plains Methodist Church, and former member of Poplar Head Methodist Church, he guided many with his wisdom and faith. Raised in the Success Community of Saucier, Larry's roots ran deep in the soil of his cherished Mississippi. His hands, ever handy, worked tirelessly not only to build a life for his family but also to create a legacy of love and service. Larry's interests were as vast as his heart, with his grandbabies holding a special place in his life. Known as "PawPaw" not only to his grandchildren but to every child, Larry showered them with affection and was a constant source of wisdom and joy. The love story of Larry and Linda began at a service station in Gulfport, blossoming into a lifetime of shared memories and unwavering partnership. Their marriage stood as a testament to their devotion to each other and their family. His memories will live on in the hearts of all whose life he touched. Larry was preceded by his parents, Thomas Victor and Lily Maude Haley; his daughter Michelle Hester, and two grandsons, Dustin Michael Haley and Brandon Hester. Left to cherish his memories are: his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Linda Haley; his son Thomas Michael (Nicole) Haley; his sister Bonnie Johnston, and his brother Donnie (Beverly) Haley. Larry leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren: Jessica Haley, Destinie (Tyler) Husfield, Christian Haley, Jonathan Haley, and Jesse (Lachelle) Hester; with eight great-grandbabies: Brysen, Jazzmine, Jayme, Joe, Cheyenne, Annalee, Riggs, Everleigh, with his grandchildren by choice, Des & Ricky Dunlap (Draeson), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends and customers through the years. Funeral services are set for Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at White Plains United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Afterward, Larry will be laid to rest in the Poplar Head UMC Cemetery in Saucier.
