Theida “Tena” Lane was born on September 2, 1944 in Gulfport, MS to Willie and Lucy Nelson. She was born into a large and loving family, where she was one of eleven children.
Tena was a beautiful soul who loved line dancing, traveling, and meeting new friends. She was a true southern woman, stubborn and deliberate in her actions. She was passionate, relentless and fearless.
She met her love Scott Lane later in life while bartending in Sioux City, after a whirlwind romance they were united in marriage on June 16, 2004. The couple worked together at WalMart and moved throughout Iowa and Mississippi for various opportunities within the company. They settled in Mississippi where they both lived out the rest of their days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lucy Nelson; husband Scott Lane; one brother, Bill Nelson Jr.; Five sisters, Shirley Montague, Lois Hill, Jean Bruffey, Wanda Kendall, and Anne Dobbs.
She is survived by her son Paul (Patty) Hobbs; five brothers, G. W. Nelson of Tennessee, Archie Nelson of Georgia, Tommy Nelson of Long Beach and Donnie Nelson of Gulfport; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
