Thay Edward Gill, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on November 22, 2023. He was born in McNeil, Mississippi on October 11, 1941, to the late James Benjamin Gill and Ruth Noel Gill. Thay graduated from McNeil High School and then dedicated a portion of his life to serving in the Army. Following his military service, he married his first wife and had three lovely children. After his first marriage he met the love of his life and committed himself to a loving partnership with Dalinda Gill. Their journey spanned 39 years, and for 32 of those years, they shared the bond of matrimony. Together, they welcomed two children, forming a close-knit family that would become one of the cornerstones of Thay's rich and fulfilling life. Thay served on the McNeil school board, showcasing his commitment to the betterment of his community. Later, he transitioned into a self-employed contractor, a profession he dedicated himself to for most of his life. Thay's work ethic and passion for his craft left a lasting impact on those around him. Thay was a man who found solace and joy in the great outdoors. His love for fishing and hunting became cherished activities that he shared with his children and friends, creating enduring memories and forging lasting connections. Thay's warmth, kindness, and genuine love for others were evident in his roles as a family man, devoted husband, father, and proud grandfather. His circle of love extended to include not only his immediate family but also his siblings, extended family and a wide circle of friends. Thay Gill's life was a testament to the beauty of love, compassion, and the bonds that tie families together. He leaves behind a legacy that will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Thay is preceded by his loving parents, James and Ruth Gill, and one brother, Otha Ray Gill. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Dalinda Deleon Gill; children, Tammy (Dale) Purvis, Teresa (Jay) Shugart, Tyron (Sandy) Gill, Benjamen (Brooke) Gill, and Millie (Christopher) Alison; sisters, Martha (Bill) Turner, Yvonne (Floyd) Beasley, Betty Mitchell, and Annette (John) Hayes; and one brother, Otis (Tammy) Gill. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
