Susan Diane (Moton) Barber

October 26, 1958 — October 20, 2022

Perkinston

Susan Diane Barber, 63, of Perkinston, passed away on October 20, 2022, surrounded by her family at Canon Hospice in Gulfport. Susan or "Missy" as everyone knew her, was born, the only daughter, on October 26, 1958, in Mansfield, LA to Leroy and Imogene (Hatcher) Moton. Missy was a kind, sweet soul who always worked hard. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, Missy worked on the oil rig for over five years as a "rough neck". It was there that she met the love of her life, David. Missy and David were married after only six weeks of knowing each other and spent the last forty-four years raising their family. Missy loved to read books and color, whether on her phone or on paper, she always had a book in hand! She is described as having an innocent love, one that never judged, only there to uplift and listen no matter the reason. She offered a love only a mother could give when her girls needed a refuge during their darkest of times. Missy's granddaughters brought her a whole new level of love and joy. One that required open arms and an open lap that was always there to hold and rock her babies. Missy was known for her snuggles and back rubs, two things she always offered those she loved and nurtured. Missy's angelic demeaner and love for those that she just "took in as her own", will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. Missy is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Imogene (Hatcher) Moton and her mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Claudine Barber. Left to cherish her memory, her loving husband, David Barber of Perkinston; her daughters Misty Barber of Perkinston and Claudia Barber of Ocean Springs; her two granddaughters Susan and Davina Barber; her brothers Mike (Jeannie) Moton of Logansport, Roy (Ramona) Moton of Shreveport, Donald (Mickey) Moton of Shreveport, and Randy (Julie) Moton of Joaquin, TX; her brother and sister-in-law Rodney (Linda) Barber; and one son-in-law Christopher Hillman of Gulfport. Services for Missy will be held at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry beginning at 10 am for visitation and service following at noon. Missy will be interred directly following her service at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Barber family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
