Susan Kay Green

Susan Kay Rushton Green, 63, of McHenry, Mississippi, formerly of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2023, after a brief illness. Susan was born on December 22, 1959, to Oscar Edward Rushton and Dorothy Sue McNair Rushton in Orlando, Florida.  After she graduated from R. H. Watkins High School in Laurel, Mississippi, in 1977, she went on to study nursing at Matty Hersee School of Nursing and worked at Ellisville State School for a short time.  She worked for many years as a store manager. Susan retired and spent time crocheting and taking care of her dogs and cats, whom she loved dearly.  She always had a strong love for all animals and took in many strays in her lifetime. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Edward Rushton and Dorothy Sue McNair Rushton, brother, Robert Jeffrey Rushton, husbands, Richie Dickerson and Gary Green, and son, Nicholas Dickerson. She is survived by her son, Jason Dickerson, her sister, Peggy Rushton Leggett (Bruce) of Laurel, Nieces, Kristen Leggett Gaines of Brandon, Sydney Dickerson of Dallas, Texas, and Kalli Dickerson Waguespack of Long Beach, and nephews, Drew Leggett of Santa Cruz, California, Bryan Rushton of Pearland, Texas, and Bobby Rushton of Pearland, Texas. There will be a memorial at the home of Bruce and Peggy Leggett, in Laurel in the near future.
