Susan H Coombs

Susan H. Coombs, a person of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 78. Born on June 18, 1947, in Summerville, Massachusetts, Susan filled her years with warmth and joy, becoming a cherished matriarch whose spirit will be forever remembered by those who had the privilege to know her.

Susan was a true family-oriented woman who dedicated her life to nurturing and uplifting her loved ones. She had an extraordinary gift of making anyone around her laugh and smile. Whether it was a simple joke or a heartfelt story, she brought happiness wherever she went. Her daughters, Shelly Coombs and Rhonda (Scott) Olsen, remember her as a continuous presence who always showed up for her family and instilled in them the same love of family that she cherished deeply.

As a proud grandmother, Susan was often seen at her grandchildren’s functions, radiating joy as she cheered on Bobbie Wehmeyer, Destinee Cure, Faith Olsen, Bella Olsen, and Craig Simmons. The birth of her great-grandchildren, Noah Wood and Craig Simmons Jr., brought her immense pride and joy, marking some of the happiest moments of her life. Susan delighted in their laughter and milestones, creating a legacy of love that will remain in their hearts forever.

Susan's personality shone brightly through her great sense of humor and passion for reading. Her determination and love for life only made her more admirable. Having lived in St. Bernard for most of her life, she created countless memories that will continue to be treasured by her family and friends.

Susan is survived by her loving daughters, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jacqueline Dudoussat, and her brother, Harold (Regina) Douvillier Jr. While she has departed from our world, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of the many lives she touched.

She is reunited with her husband, Robert Leon Coombs, and her brothers Richard Douvillier and Edwin Dudoussat Jr., along with her father, James Harkins, and her parents, Pete Sr. and Dorothy Douvillier. The memories they shared will live on through the laughter and love that Susan embedded in her family's life.

A visitation will be held in her honor on January 31, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry, MS, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

In this moment of sorrow, we celebrate Susan’s life—a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. She will be greatly missed yet fondly remembered by all who knew her.
