Stephen Ray Holland went home with Jesus, May 24th. He was tired and ready to go home. His battle is over. He was born May 22, 1971. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ina Ladner, Murphy Holland, Lynda Odom and Red Odom; his aunt, Judith Cuevas and baby Holland. He is survived by his parents, Donna and Bobby Dykes; his wife, Nikki Todd Holland; his daughters, Alyssa (Mark) Sherrick, Jasmine Bailee Holland and Mikayla Holland; his son, Stephen Dykes; his siblings, Benson (Amanda) Dykes, Craig (Patti) Dykes, Scott (Joley) Dykes and Karen (Eddie) Hilliard; relatives that he considered more like brothers and sisters than aunts and uncles, Linda Miller, Sharron and Robert Hopkins, Karen McKnight, Carla Jones, Jeanie Brown, Linnea and Kevin Sweat and Keith and Pat Holland along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and many angels it took to watch over him; all whom he loved beyond measure. To some Stephen was just a junkie. When you saw Stephen, you saw his addiction but that was a loss for everyone. Drugs didn’t love Stephen, they controlled him, they owned him. They mocked his every attempt to be free. But Stephen was an adored son, brother, father and friend. He was warm, fearless and resilient. Stephen could and would talk to everyone. He saw incredible darkness and though all around him would have paid any price to have him back, it took Jesus on the cross to pay his ransom. Stephen’s passion was fast cars. He had a talent for drawing and would spend hours creating masterpieces of car drawings. If your car needed repair, Stephen was your man. He had the ability to repair just about anything. His smile could light up a room and warm the coldest of hearts. Stephen was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Stephen’s family would like to express their gratitude to the caring hearts and people that went the extra mile to help guide Stephen through life’s battles; Aunt Betty Ferrill, Uncle Curtis Dykes, Mary Todd, James Williams, Donnie Taylor, Alan Smith, Paul Gregory, Tony (T&T Ranch), Linda Peterson, Dr. Melgar and Dr. Surowiec. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 5th at Christian Worship Center at 10:30 am. Funeral service will be at 11 am with Bro. Alan Smith and Bro. Paul Gregory officiating. If you yourself are struggling from addiction, know that every breath is a fresh start. Know that hundreds of thousands of families who have lost someone to this disease are praying and rooting for you. Know that we believe with all our hearts that you can and will make it. It is never too late. If you are reading this with judgment, educate yourself about this disease, because that is what it is. It is not a choice or a weakness. And chances are very good that someone you know is struggling with it, and that person needs and deserves your empathy and support. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to be entrusted with the care of Stephen and asks that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
