Sonya D. Graham

January 17, 1966 — January 21, 2024

Gulfport

Sonya Diane Graham, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024, in her hometown of Gulfport, MS, where her story began on January 17, 1966. Sonya, known for her compassionate heart and unwavering passion for life, left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sonya's early years in Gulfport laid the foundation for a life full of love and dedication to her family. She was the beloved daughter of Martha Jean Johns and Jerald Collin Graham, both of whom preceded her, as did her sister Edwina Joy Bankston and brother Darrell Wayne Graham. Sonya's legacy of love and care lives on through her devoted brother Steve Graham; her cherished son Derrick Graham; her adored daughter-in-law Lacey Graham; and her treasured grandchildren Joseph, Brooklyn, Khloe and Bailey Graham and Julianne and Brayden Shavers . Sonya's warmth also extended to her nephews Nathan Middleton and Dakota Bankston, and several great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she held dear to her heart. A lifelong learner, Sonya pursued her education in drafting and design at MGCCC Perk Campus, where her meticulous and creative spirit thrived. Her professional journey led her to serve as a cashier at Walmart for many years, where she was not just an employee but a friendly face that customers looked forward to seeing. Sonya's dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her family and her zest for life. Sonya's interests were deeply rooted in the joy of togetherness; she found her greatest happiness in the company of her family and grandchildren. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy, and her home was a hub of laughter, storytelling, and shared memories. Sonya's love for her family was her guiding force, and the time spent with her loved ones was her most cherished treasure. Described by those who knew her as loving, kind, and passionate, Sonya embodied these virtues in every aspect of her life. She was a gentle soul who approached every person and situation with a heart full of empathy and understanding. Her kindness was a gentle reminder of the goodness in the world, and her passion was a testament to her belief in living life to the fullest. In the words of Mother Teresa, "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." Sonya lived by these words, leaving a legacy of love and happiness that will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her grace and generosity. Sonya's life was a beautiful tapestry of moments filled with laughter, love, and the pure joy of being surrounded by her family. As we bid farewell to Sonya Diane Graham, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a soul that will forever be remembered for its boundless love and kindness. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her family and friends, guiding them with the same love that she so freely gave during her time on this earth. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Graham family and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
