Solon Eugene Allen

On the morning of Thursday, May 2, 2019, Solon Eugene “Hody” Allen, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 95 at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford, MS. Hody was born on July 13, 1923 in Brookhaven, MS to Benny and Addie Lou Allen, both of Brookhaven, MS. On February 14, 1953, he married Annie Lou Long. Together, they raised a son, Donny Glen Allen of Brookhaven, MS.Hody was an avid watcher of western television shows and movies. He was also a huge fan of country music and artists like Hank Williams, George Jones, and Kitty Wells, just to name a few.  He enjoyed watching golf, baseball, and football all the same, even more so if he was able to watch it with his son. If he wasn’t tending to the vegetables in the garden, you could usually find him in a swing, relaxing with his favorite pet, a cat named Tom.He was preceded in death by his father Benny, his mother Lou, his brothers, James “Wheeler” Allen, J.W. “Dub” Allen and wife Earlene Allen, Billy Ray Allen and wife Flora May Allen, and his son Donny Glen Allen.He is survived by his wife, Annie Lou Allen, his Brother Jimmy Allen and wife Shelia Allen of Brookhaven, MS, his daughter in-law Elaine Allen of Oxford, MS, his granddaughters Shanna Barrett of Oxford, MS, and Deanna Roberts and husband Robbie Roberts of McComb, MS, his grandson Joshua Allen of Oxford, MS and four great grandchildren, Mia Adams, Gracyn Roberts, Brody Barrett, and Maverick Roberts.
