Silas William Bishop, Jr.

Biloxi, MS

Silas William Bishop, Jr, 83 of Biloxi, passed away Wednesday morning at his home, with his loving wife Barbara at his side. He was born November 23, 1936 in Biloxi, one of four children and  son of Silas W. Sr. & Emily (Langston) Bishop. Willie, as he was known by those closest to him, joined the US Navy out of high school, serving honorably. Willie was injured during his service, and honorably discharged. He went to work for the Veteran Administration, spending his entire career keeping the VA grounds in pristine condition. A member of the Elks Lodge #576 in Biloxi, he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Willie was preceded by his parents, Silas & Emily Bishop, Sr.; his son Alfred Anthony Taylor; and sisters Gloria (Samuel) Davis, Rosalie (Eliott) Quave and Annie Jewel Bishop. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of over 40 years, Barbara; their two daughters, Jewel Bishop and Cassandra (Preston) Samuel; two grandchildren, Ashley Samuel and Preston "Skip" Samuel, Jr., with numerous extended family, friends and neighbors through the years. Willie's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service may be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Bishop family in their time of need. Please keep Ms. Barbara and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
