Shirley Reeves (Swilley) Coppler

Shirley Reeves Swilley Coppler, age 82, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. She was born on November 14, 1937 to Frank and Louise (Smith) Swilley.  She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Becky Waller; brother, Jimmy Swilley and sister, Diane Swilley. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Frank Coppler; children, Terrisa Shedd, Tammy (Charles) Shedd and Danny (Martha) Waller; siblings, Frankie Rackley, Don (Barbara) Swilley, Terry (Liz) Swilley, Linda (Johnny) Lee, Howard (Chrissie) Swilley, Kathy (Steve) Combest and Tina (Kenneth) Lancaster; grandchildren, Wes, Justin, David, Halie, Paden, Jason and Carla; great-grands, Landon, Kinsley, Adaleigh, Logan, Brentlea, Kailey, Gracie, Laken, Mikayla and Tyler along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and life long friends. Shirley will be remembered for her love of family. She lived big and loved even bigger. There was never a dull moment when she was around, and everyone knew that she had your back. It didn’t matter if it was for a ride to the store or to help hide a body. She had an incredible sense of humor, work ethic and a free spirt. You always knew where you stood with Shirley, she made sure of telling you what was on her mind and what she thought. She wasn’t afraid of anything or anyone. She will be remembered as an excellent cook with fried pork chops, pinto beans, smothered potatoes with onions and cornbread being a top hit. And her bread pudding was famous around town!! She was a good mom but an excellent grandma. Shirley may be gone from our sight but will never be gone from our hearts. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4 at Trinity Funeral Services Lumberton from 10:30 to 11:30 with funeral service at 11:30. Interment will follow at the Lumberton City Cemetery.
