Shirley Jane (Krawchuk) Culbreth

January 21, 1937 — February 26, 2022

Ocean Springs

Shirley Jane Culbreth, 85 and originally of Canada, passed away February 26, 2022 at Ocean Springs Hospital. She was born on January 21, 1937 in Manitoba, Canada, the sixth of seven children to Nicholas and Katherine (Pidwinski) Krawchuk. Her grandparents immigrated from Ukraine in the late 1800s, and were among the first settlers in the Manitoba and Michigan areas. She grew up on the family farm in Manitoba and enjoyed the outdoors. Shirley was a bit mischievous, what some might call a rascal growing up. She often looked for something exciting to get into, or a good prank to pull on you. She met Bill while he was stationed in Canada, serving in the USAF. They married and she became a military wife, which she absolutely loved. They travelled and lived all over the world while he served, including Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, the UK and beyond. She went through the entire process to became a US citizen, something she was very proud of. Shirley loved learning new things, and picked up something everywhere they lived. After Bill's retirement, they moved to Panama City, FL where they started a small business called "The Clock and Gift Shop". Shirley and "Tik-tok" (Bill) ran it many years. Shirley had a bubbly personality and was definitely a people-person, which suited her well in the shop. She enjoyed sewing, making clothing for her kids and others, including babies in the hospital. Shirley also enjoyed cooking and baking, making and decorating beautiful cakes for people through the years. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing and being with her family. Shirley also had a bit of a lucky side to her, and enjoyed visiting the casinos. She often entered slot and poker tournaments, winning a few of them over the years. Shirley was a true patriot and often volunteered to help place wreaths on veteran's graves. A caring person, loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will definitely be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her. Shirley was preceded by her parents, Nicholas and Katherine Krawchuk, and her siblings Andrew Krawchuk (Brother), Conrad Krawchuk (Brother), Mildred Brent (Sister), Alice Kamika-Gore (Sister), Lawrence Krawchuk (Brother); her loving husband Bill "Tik-tok" Culbreth, and their daughter, Cheryl Michaels. Left to cherish her memories are: her children, Billy (Susan) Culbreth of TN; and her sister Doreen Zachar of Canada. She leaves a legacy of two grandsons, Wes Culbreth and Brandon (Brandi) Culbreth, with two granddaughters, Angela Villano and Melissa (Chris) Shock, along with untold numbers of extended family and friends scattered literally across the globe. Her final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring and will hold a memorial service at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Culbreth family in their time of need and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
