Shawna Suzanne Dillard, 56, of Carriere, Mississippi, passed away on August 28, 2025. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church of Poplarville for all family and friends who loved and cared for Shawna. Funeral services will follow, with Colby Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of McNeill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Trinity Funeral Services.
Shawna was born at Crosby Memorial Hospital in Picayune, Mississippi, on July 28, 1969, to James Edgar Odom and Bettye Larie (Davis) Lossett. As a child, Shawna loved spending days at her Grandaddy and Granny’s home. Shawna had two children, Brittney (TJ) Penton and Brooke (Kenneth) Pullens, and six grandchildren: Brienne, Dawson, Gatlin, and Joncey Penton, Easton and Kenna Pullens. Shawna’s children and grandchildren meant everything to her. Shawna enjoyed the holidays most with her family and was known for her cooking. Through strong will and determination, Shawna put herself through nursing school and dedicated her life to becoming and being a registered nurse. One of her biggest joys was helping others in need. When Shawna was not with her family or working as a nurse, she enjoyed floral work and was known for the many beautiful arrangements and wreaths she created. Shawna was a dedicated follower of Jesus. She loved to sing and worship. Though her final days may have been troubled, she never strayed from her faith and love of Jesus. Her family is thankful for her faith and finds comfort in knowing she is now resting with her precious Heavenly Father.
Shawna is preceded in death by her fathers, James Edgar Odom and David Lossett; her paternal grandmother, May Eula Weems Cooper; her maternal grandparents, Lee Edwin Davis and Lessie Caroline Mitchell Davis; one sister, Dawn Cooper; her father-in-law, Kenneth Ray Dillard, Sr.; her sister-in-law, Kimberly Marie Inman; and one niece, Hanah Victoria Irene Dillard. Shawna is survived by her mother, Bettye Lossett; her daughters, Brittney (TJ) Penton, Brooke (Kenneth) Pullens; her grandchildren, Brienne, Dawson, Gatlin and Joncey Penton, Easton and Kenna Pullens; her siblings, Jason (Vickie) Odom, Lori (Shane) Pippen, Tara (Vol) White, and David (Kathleen) Lossett, Jr.; as well as a host of numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Dillard family in their time of need, and we ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
