Mr. Sandy M. Dunn, 53 of Wiggins, passed away Saturday evening in Gulfport. He was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2016, and fought a long, hard battle. Sandy was born Monday, July 15, 1963 in Odessa, Texas. He was the middle child, the 3rd of 5 born to Eugene & Jean Dunn. Sandy was a very outgoing young man, and was the ultimate prankster. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, and having fun with friends and family. At 18, he joined the US Army, serving for 3 years. After being discharged, he met and married Melinda, and together they had 2 children. Sandy enjoyed driving, and made a career as a commercial driver. After 9/11, his patriotism caused him to re-enlist, this time in the Army National Guard, where he served another term. He was discharged in 2004, and continued his driving career. In 2013, he moved to Wiggins where he worked for Desoto Treated Materials. Sandy will be remembered as a mischievous but loving brother, a very giving person, and a loving father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his two children, daughter, Jennifer Kacarka (Aaron) of Florence, MS; and a son, Ricky L. Dunn (Hope) of PA; four siblings, one sister, Jes Wendy Turner (Michael) of Franklinton, LA, and three brothers, Mitchell Turner (Vicky) of Jackson, MS, Vincent Dunn (Janice) of Clarksville, TN, and Robert Dunn (Kimberly) of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren who he loved dearly, Ryan, Brayden, McKenna, Abby, Tristen, Conner, and Colin; his beloved ex-wife, Melinda Pearson, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Dunn, his mother, Jean Stroud, and his step-father, Carroll Stroud. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening, May 15, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, and from 10:00 until 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16th, at Tuxechena Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Dunn family in their time of need.
