Sandra James Vance graced this world with her vivacity and warm spirit on December 30, 1953, in Gulfport, Mississippi. A life well-lived came to a gentle end on July 31, 2025, in Kiln, Mississippi, where she drew her last breath surrounded by love and the sweet recollection of memories shared. Sandra was a proud alumna of Hancock County Schools, wielding the gift of knowledge with grace and humility. Her professional life was characterized by a dedication to service, having safeguarded countless children as a school crossing guard with the Gulfport Police Department for two decades. As an eye glass maker, she honed her craft with precision until her well-earned retirement. The farm could always count on her attentive care, as could her family, who stood at the center of her vast universe. An unwavering Saints fan, Sandra rode the ebbs and flows of fandom with the resilience of a true sports aficionado. Come football season, she could be found shouting encouragement or reassurances at the TV screen, her passion for the New Orleans Saints as fervent as ever. Beyond the bleachers, Sandra was an extraordinary dancer, her steps a testament to the rhythm of life she embraced so freely. An equally amazing cook, she nourished both body and soul with her culinary creations. Her joyful nature extended to the digital realm where she mastered Facebook games, adding a sprinkle of competitive spirit and camaraderie to her daily interactions. Above all, Sandra's capacity for love knew no bounds - her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the jewels in her crown, each moment spent with them a treasure trove of happiness. She never met a stranger; instead, each new acquaintance was simply a friend she hadn't spoken to yet. In her memory, may we all strive to bring as much light to the lives of others as she did to ours. Sandra's indomitable spirit, boundless generosity, and infectious joy will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is preceded by her parents Andiess and Essie Ladner; her brothers Van Lusich, Gilbert James, and baby boy Ladner; and her cherished husband, Billy Vance. Her memory will be treasured by her siblings Sherry Ann, Lorraine Vance, Regina Cooper, Tamela Ladner, and Andy Ladner; her devoted daughter Kristy Basinger and husband Jay; her beloved grandchildren Brennen, Christopher and wife Kayla, and Ashley Stromme and husband Ryan; and her adored great-grandchildren Sumor, Winter, Allie, Maylie, Analynn, Collin, and many adopted grandchildren. A multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends also mourn her loss while celebrating the joy she brought to their lives. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family directly. Visitation will be at the Vance residence from 11am to 5pm and the family requests that attendee's wear their favorite sports attire. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Vance family in their time of need and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
