Sandra Anita (Shaw) Robinson

Sandra Anita (Shaw) Robinson, 69 of Wiggins, entered her eternal rest Thursday morning, April 23rd. Born Christmas Eve 1950 in Memphis, TN, Sandra was the second of six children and only daughter to Elmo, Jr. and Earlene (Hall) Shaw. She grew up and graduated high school there in 1968, moving to California shortly after. Unknown to Sandra at the time, there was a young, Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force named Larry Robinson, discharged in 1972 after his honorable service and living at home. His mother asked him one day when he would be moving on with his life, and he responded, "Mom, I have laid down a prayer to God for a wife and I am faithfully waiting for Him to answer." Not long after that conversation, Larry was invited to a house party by a friend. Feeling as though he should attend, it was there God answered his prayer. Larry met Sandra at that party, was captured by her smile and the rest, as they say, is history. They were married in January of 1973, making their home and starting their family in Los Angeles. She worked in retail for Target while Larry owned and operated a home improvement business for 16 years, all while raising three daughters. In 2013 they decided to move to Wiggins, on some family land in Perry county off Hwy 29, to enjoy the peaceful quietness there. Sandra was a quiet, reserved woman who loved to read. She could and often did, spend the day at the library just reading. She enjoyed books relating how life used to be, novels and much more. Her glowing smile exuded the person she was. Sandra actually means "nice", which defines her to a tee. She was a loving, caring sister, wife and mother who cared and provided for her family. Sandra knew the difference between being a friend and parent, blending them both into the loving mother her daughters needed. Sandra was, literally, the answer to Larry's prayer and they spent their lives together enjoying God's richest blessings. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life she touched. Sandra was preceded by her parents, Elmo & Earlene Shaw. Left to cherish her memories are: her soul-mate and loving husband of 46 years, Larry Robinson; their three daughters: Nicole Boyce and Lara Robinson, both of Phoenix, AZ, and Natalie (Gerald) Usher of Los Angeles, CA; her brothers: Vincent Shaw of Crestview, FL, Kevin Shaw of Hollywood, CA, Ronnie Shaw of Sacramento, CA, Gary Shaw of Moreno Valley, CA, and Preston (Victoria) Shaw of Inglewood, CA, along with numerous extended family, friends and coworkers through the years. The family will set a memorial service soon, to be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Wiggins. Service information will be updated when available.
