Mr. Samuel Ronald Tidwell Jr

June 30, 1989 — March 28, 2018

Samuel Ronald Tidwell, Jr., 28 of Long Beach, passed away Wednesday morning in Mobile, AL. Ronnie was born June 30, 1989 in Gulfport, the oldest child of Sam Sr. and Esther Tidwell. He grew up in Long Beach, and was all boy from the start. Ronnie loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, camping, and more. He participated in sports, enjoying basketball, baseball, and football, and was avid Alabama fan. Ronnie had a mischievous streak, and loved to laugh, but what he enjoyed most was hanging with his Pawpaw, who took him along as he drove over the road. Those were Ronnie's fondest memories in life. He grew into a handsome young man, a definite "ladies man" that enjoyed being the center of attention. He is remembered as an energetic and loving person with a huge heart. He and his brother worked long hours in the wake of Katrina, distributing ice and water to coast residents. Ronnie was very protective of his family, whom he loved to be with, a caring and generous person that loved to hug, and when he hugged you, you knew you had been hugged. He will be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Ronnie was preceded by his grandparents, Paul & Janet Tidwell, James Bond, and Charles Newman; his aunt, Gloria O'Mohundro, and an uncle, Richard Tidwell. Left to cherish his memories are the loves of his life, his only son, Tucker Rhodes, and his mother, Rebecca, both of Iowa City, IA; parents Sam & Esther Tidwell, Sr. of Gulfport; one brother, Charles (Megan) Tidwell of Saucier, and a sister, Jennifer (Thomas) Richards of Birmingham, AL; aunts Nora (David) Newbill of McHenry, Billie Bond Ming of Long Beach, and Paula (Bruce) Jones of Saucier, his uncle Ricky Bond of Wellman, IA; grandmother Wanda Newman of Long Beach; a nephew, John Thomas Richards, nieces Natalie and Zoey Tidwell; a special "uncle", Bobby Jones of Long Beach along with several other extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday evening, April 3rd from 6:00 until 9:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday morning, all at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. Interment will follow at McHenry Gardens Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to assist the Tidwell family, and asks that you keep Sam, Esther, Charles, and all the family in your thoughts and prayers in such a difficult time.
