Poplarville

Samuel James Woodall, age 61, of Poplarville, MS passed away on December 12, 2022. "Sam" or "WW", as he was known in life by many, was born on January 4, 1961, in Chattanooga, TN to Lester Woodall Jr. and Wilma Isabel McKinney. At eight years old, Sam would follow his father's job to Mississippi, where he grew up.  After high school, Sam became as a truck driver for eight years and later went on to become a heavy machine operator at Huey P. Stockstill for over twenty years, before retiring. Sam was a very hard-working man, whose kind, generous, and compassionate heart didn't go unnoticed when he went out of his way to help anyone he could. Sam was a well-known member of his community, in fact, he helped open Amacker-town Volunteer Fire Department in 1986, in which he would serve as President of the Board. Sam enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his family was his pride and joy, with his grandchildren holding a special place in his heart. Sundays were for barbequing and evenings spent with his grands in the park. Every year Sam looked forward to the McKinney Family reunion in Tennessee, where he enjoyed being surrounded by his family. Sam was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many that will cling to his loving memory. Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Lester Woodall Jr. and Wilma Isabel Mckinny. Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of thirty-one years, Wandalou Woodall of Poplarville, MS; his son James (Shelby) Woodall of Poplarville, MS; his stepdaughter, Tonya Savoie of Poplarville, MS; his siblings, Leslie Woodall and Russell P. Woodall of Poplarville, MS; his grandchildren, Timothy J. Savoie, Sierra Savoie, Jasmine (Chris) Light; and his nephews, Dudley (Katie) Hiltibidal, Michael Hitibidal, and Dudley Jacks.  Services for Sam Woodall will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Poplarville, beginning with a Visitation at 11:00 am for extended family and friends.  Following his Visitation, a Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with his interment at Baughman Cemetery directly after.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Woodall family and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during the days and weeks to come.
