Samuel Lee Mack, Sr.

Rev. Samuel Lee Mack, Sr., 79 of Wiggins, had his devout faith become sight Monday evening in Hattiesburg. Born on Independence Day 1941 in Collins, MS, he was the oldest of six children to Sam and Lottie Mae (Jordan) Mack. Sam grew up in Hattiesburg where he attended Eureka Elementary and Rowan High School. Early on he went to work for McCaffrey's Grocery, a popular shopping location many years ago. He also was a skilled carpenter and worked at the fertilizer plant, Shell Oil and Hercules, before moving on to Ingalls Shipbuilding where he eventually retired. Sam gave his heart to the Lord at Rock of Ages church many years ago and felt the Lord calling him to the ministry. He and his wife Earnestine founded and pastored Word of Life Ministries in Hattiesburg for twelve years. He loved to sing, preach and teach the Word, encouraging others to come to salvation. Moving to Wiggins a few years ago, Bro. Sam and Sis. Earnestine have served at Shekina Glory, but for the past 4 years, they have served at New Welcome Hill Baptist Church where he was an Associate to Pastor Tim Monroe. Bro. Sam loved to fish and hunt in his spare time. He also enjoyed yardwork, renovating houses and helping others in any way he could. He was a straight forward person, the same on Sunday in the pulpit as he was during the week at Walmart. A man of God that lived and served the Lord with gladness, he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched.  He was preceded by his parents, Sam and Lottie Mae Mack, and one son, Sam Griffin. Left to cherish his memories are: his devoted wife of over 29 years, Sis. Earnestine; a daughter Sandra Mack, and sons Sam Mack, Jr., Danny Mack, William Mack, Stevie Mack, Dondryck Hicks and Anfinetcho Wheeler, all of Hattiesburg, with Dontrell Mack, currently serving in the US Army and stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX; sisters Willie Merle Ashford, Lottie Pearl (Norris) Clark, and brothers Richard Martin and Larry (Lois) Martin, all of Hattiesburg, and his sister Linda Pittman of Petal. Bro. Sam leaves a legacy of a host of grand children, numerous extended family members, and untold numbers of those he has led to the Lord over his life. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring and will hold a memorial celebration for him at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Mack family in their time of need, asking everyone to sing a little louder in church in his honor and keep Sis. Earnestine and the entire family in your prayers as they walk through this difficult valley.
