Ruby Elizabeth (Lassabe) Threadgill, known affectionately as Ruby to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024 in Gulfport. She was born on February 9, 1940, the second oldest of nine and part of a family of ten, to Vic and Pearl (Cuevas) Lassabe. She was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her. Ruby's life was characterized by her unwavering devotion to her family and the warmth she extended to everyone she met. She embraced her role as a homemaker with enthusiasm and grace, creating a welcoming and loving home where all were invited to share in her delicious cooking and the laughter that was never far from her lips. Her generosity of spirit was evident in both her words and her actions, as she always put the needs of others before her own. Ruby was an active member of the community, finding joy in her many interests, but she was particularly fond of bowling. She could often be found cheering on her teammates and celebrating every strike with gusto. Her culinary skills were equally renowned, and Ruby's kitchen became a place of gathering, where friends and family would come together over her sumptuous dishes. Ruby's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was a source of unconditional love and support, always there to offer a kind word, a hug, or a home-cooked meal. Her passion extended to all her endeavors, which included her animals, and she approached life with a zest that was both inspiring and infectious. Over the past several years, she was a faithful member at McHenry First Baptist Church where she was always involved with the ladies' groups and efforts. Those who knew Ruby will remember her as a loving, generous, and passionate soul. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have felt the warmth of her smile and the kindness of her heart. She was preceded by her parents, Vic and Pearl Lassabe; her loving husband, George Threadgill, Sr.; sons Joey, Steven, and Timothy Threadgill; sisters Margie Lewis and Catherine Lopresto, and brothers Robert and Ramey Lassabe, and her cat, "Kitty". Left to cherish her memories are: her children, Ricky (Julie) Threadgill and Diane Dye, both of McHenry, and Buddy (Rosemary) Threadgill of Saucier; her siblings: sisters Marie (Cecil) Borzik, Joyce (Carl) Guillory, and Kay (Joey) Ross, with brothers Kenneth (Carolyn) and Vic (Marlene) Lassabe. Ruby leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren: Whitney, Lauren, George, Wendy, Aaron, Autumn, Shannon, Chase, and Tina, who blessed her with eighteen great-grandchildren, along with other extended family members plus numerous friends and neighbors through the years. Services are set for Friday, March 15th at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a chapel service at 11:00, with Bro. Wayne Flurry officiating. Afterward, Ruby will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport. In lieu of floral arrangements, please consider making a donation to your local SPCA in Ruby's honor. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Threadgill family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
