Royce Gordon Hennes, 77 passed away peacefully at his home in Wiggins surrounded by family and friends on June 12, 2021. He was born in Poplarville, MS on November 29, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Flora Hennes; his infant sons, Don Carlos and Gordon Ray; his brothers, Earl, Leoland and Larry Hennes and his grandson, Eric Shawn Bailey. He leaves to cherish his memory; his beloved wife of 60 years, Nelda Hennes; his daughters, Theresa (Timbo Lott) Hennes Herrington, Lorrie Elizabeth Hennes and Teresa (Glenn Baggett) Reid; his grandsons and granddaughters in law, Raygan and Jada Herrington, Nathan and Ashlyn Herrington, Seth and Kayla Reid, Caleb and Shanna Reid and Brayden Baggett; his granddaughter, Raeanna Herrington; his great grandchildren, Eric Tate, Hazel Grace, Sophia Lynn, Bentley, Declan and Raelynn; his brothers and sisters in law, C.L. and Gloria Hennes, W.A. “Dub” and Carla Hennes; his sisters and brothers in law, Elaine and Rev. Berry Duncan, Miriam and James Bond, Joyce and Larry Gray and Margie and Gussie Tynes along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. If you asked a 100 people who Royce was, they would all give you a different story. Hard-headed, stubborn, determined and loving. He was none of these things and perhaps all of them. What he was, was a talker. No matter the occasion or the audience, Royce had something to say. Sometimes it might not be what you wanted to hear but it was always the truth. He never met a stranger; at least not for long. Royce was a people person and would give someone in need his last dollar. His hobbies including working and after work, he worked some more. He was mechanically talented and could fix anything with a motor. He taught his grandsons the art of “turning wrenches”. He served his country in the National Guard for over 13 years, was a member of Word Alive Revival Center and retired from Pine Belt Oil Company. Royce was a great provider and a hardworking man. It was clearly evident that he loved his family. He instilled strong values in them that have served them well. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. A Visitation will be held at Word Alive Revival Center on Tuesday, June 15th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 16th at 2 pm with visitation 1 hour prior. Interment is at Wiggins City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to offset funeral expenses. Trinity Funereal Services is honored to assist Royce’s family during this difficult time and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
