Mr. Royal Roland Flowers Sr

May 2, 1944 — August 12, 2018

Mr. Royal Roland Flowers, Sr., 74 of Kiln, went home to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon in Gulfport. Roland was born May 2, 1944 in Biloxi, about a year before V-E Day. He and his twin brother Nolan were the babies of the bunch, with Roland born about 10 minutes earlier. The pair held the record for the largest twins born at the old Biloxi hospital, with Nolan at 7.0 and Roland at 7.2 lbs. He grew up on "the Point" in Biloxi, and as most everyone in the area, loved to be on the water and fishing. Roland joined the U.S. Army, serving 4 years in the early 60s. After his honorable discharge, he made a career as a painter. Roland was a born-again Christian, and member of Berean Baptist Church in Wiggins where he loved to sing. Among his favorites to sing was a song entitled The Middle Man, and many remember him for it. He loved the outdoors, hunting & fishing, and spoiling his grandkids every chance he got. A loving father, husband, and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Roland was preceded by his parents, Calvin & Erma Louise (Bosarge) Flowers; a daughter, Deliah "Dennie" Flowers; sisters Virgie Akin and Carol Spellman, and one brother, Alvin Flowers. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Elnora "Sisie" Smith Flowers; their son, Roland (Angela) Flowers, Jr. of Diamondhead; his twin brother, Nolan of St. Martin, and his older brother, Ronnie (Pat) Flowers of Gulf Hills; grandchildren Rocky Flowers, Bryce Maggiore, Summer Harrell, Nathan Ladner, Ashley Flowers, and Angela Goldizen; fourteen great-grands, and numerous nieces, nehpews, and friends. The family has set services at Highland Baptist Church, with visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 PM on Friday, August 17th, and from 9:00 until 10:00 AM Saturday morning. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, and afterward, he will be intered at Standard Sand Hill Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Flowers family, and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
