Mr. Roy Eugene Tanner Sr

Mr. Roy Eugene Tanner, Sr., 77 of Vancleave, MS, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, October 23rd, 2017 in Ocean Springs. Roy was born July 5, 1940 in Ocean Springs, the son of Theodore R. "Chicken" and Ada Tanner. He made his home in the Vestry community, and retired as a driver for the Jackson County Road Dept. Roy loved attending church, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Shoemaker Tanner of Vancleave, MS; two sons, Vernon Duvall of St. Martin, and Roy (Tina) Tanner Jr. of Madison, OH; four grandchildren: Christopher, David (Courtny), and Krystle (Michael), all of Bruce, MS, and Coral of Madison Ohio; and great grandchildren: Michaela, Colton, Dani, Addalynn, and Lana also of Bruce; His brothers; Ellis Olsen of Ocean Springs, Henry (Jean) Tanner, James (Elaine) Tanner, and Charlie (Kay) Tanner, and Carl Steve (Marie) Tanner, all of Vancleave; and his sister, Zennie (Felton) George. He was proceeded in death by his parents, T.R. and Ada Tanner; one brother, Louis Olsen; and two sisters, Pearl Noble and Clyte Calton. Services will be held Friday, October 27th, 2017, at Antioch Baptist Church in Vancleave. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 am, with the funeral service set for noon. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Tanner, David Tanner, Wesley Tanner, Rodney Tanner, Steven Tanner, Ethan Bosarge, Derek Bakker, Brad Vandevender, Charlie Calton, Scott McMillan, and Josh Noble. Honorary Pallbearers are James "Spanky" Shoemaker, Matthew Shoemaker, and Mickel "Waddles" Shoemaker.
