Rose Mary Bartula, 85 of Kiln, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning in Kiln. Rose was born on Oct. 31, 1932 in Smith county, MS, one of 10 children to O.D. & Mary Lou Herrington. She grew up in South Louisiana with a sound work ethic instilled in her. After graduating high school, she took a couple of classes in college, and secured a position as an executive secretary. Rose made her home in Kenner and remained in that job for 51 years, retiring at the young age of 70. Afterward, she remained active, taking care of her home and pool, and she also enjoyed walking. Together with her sister, the two liked to walk marathons. Rose was a loving, generous, and energetic person, remembered as "the best mom anyone could ask for" by her son. She gave blood regularly for many years, and was a compassionate friend to so many. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rose was preceded by her husband, Richard Bartula, Sr.; her parents, O.D. & Mary Lou Herrington; sisters Joyce Matis and Winnie Crise, and brothers Frank, Ben, J.P, Albert, and John Herrington. Left to cheris her memories are her only son, Rick (Denise) Bartula of Kiln; one brother, Tommy (Carol) Herrington of CA, and one sister, Mary Coley of NC; four grandchildren, and numerous neighbors and friends. Rose didn't want any fanfare at her passing, as she lived a long and fruitful life. She will be interred in the Garden of Memories with her husband on Thursday, August 9th. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Bartula family, and asks that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
