Mr. Roland R. Cowart, 65 of Gulfport, passed away Saturday evening at his home surrounded by family. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of 29 years, Diane; two children, Brent and Shea Cowart; three grandchildren: Benjamin, Hannah, and Dustin Cowart; his siblings, sisters: Carolyn (Bob) Snyder, Margaret (Dewey) Reddoch, and Martha (Mike) Beeson; and brothers: Larry Cowart, Tommy (Linda) Cowart, and Vincent Cowart, along with his two spoiled pets, Noel and Austin. He was preceded by his parents, Vincent and Theo Nell Cowart, and his loving father-in-law and "sidekick", James "Smitty" Smith, and mother-in-law, Dottie Smith. Roland was a master mechanic, and could repair just about anything. He worked for many years as a boilermaker, performing maintenance operations during electric plant shutdowns. The family would like to thank his hospice nurse, Martina, and the aide, Destiny, for their kind service and compassion in caring for Roland during his illness. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Harrison County Humane Society. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Allison Wall, and nurse Mandy for their compassionate care during his illness. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Cowart family, and asks that you keep Diane and the family in your prayers during this trying time.
