Rodger Eugene Petersen, 71 years young of Gulfport, MS and formerly from Brainerd, MN passed peacefully at his home after a long battle with Cancer. Rodger was born in Brainerd, MN to Arthur and Lois Petersen on August 6, 1950. Mr. Petersen was raised in Nisswa, MN and learned to be a mechanic by trade. When Rodger was 18 years of age he married Kathleen Sears and they had a lovely daughter Victoria Lynn Petersen. Rodger would use his mechanic skills and pursue a career in the United States military when his was 23 years old and would go on to proudly serve his country for 20 years. Mr. Petersen enjoyed rebuilding motorcycles and cars but when it was cold outside he liked working on puzzles and reading books. Rodger was huge NASCAR fan that never missed a racing event and he was also an avid reader that had a very large collection of books and magazines. Mr. Petersen was a loving Dad and Grandpa that will be missed. Rodger is survived by his daughter, Victoria (John) Owens of Gulfport, MS; grandson, Dakota Owens; former wife, Kathleen; siblings, Judith Gakin, Linda (Darryl) Norlund, Donna Burrows, Roy (Kathy) Petersen, Alice (Bruce) Pratt, and Pamela (Jeff) Addison; aunt, Joyce Smith. Rodger is also survived by many cousins, friends, nieces, and nephews. Mr. Petersen is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lois Petersen; grandparents, Robert and Myrtle king, Fredrick and Daisey Petersen; siblings, Teresa Young and infant brother and sister, James Alfred and Jane Annette. Rodger is also preceded by two brothers-in-law, Robert Gakin And Ronald Burrows. A funeral service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday November 19, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Trinity Funeral Services are entrusted with the arrangements.
