Mr. Robert Harry Steffen, 77 of Molino, FL, passed away Friday afternoon in Wiggins. Born May 7, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, he was the oldest of two children to Vernon Earl & Marie (Brown) Steffen. Known to most by Bob, he grew up in the St. Louis area, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. A highly intelligent young man, Bob went right into college after high school, graduating magna cum laude. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963, serving honorably as a naval aviator. After his discharge, Bob worked for a while as an electrical contractor and in the trucking industry before deciding to return to school, where he obtained a Masters of Business Administration. He would use the knowledge he obtained, running his own freight company for many years where he drove over the road as well. Bob met and married Sue Fann in 1964, and they spent their lives together living several different cities. While in St. Louis, MO, they lost their home to a lightning strike in 1993, deciding to make their way to Florida. Bob had been fond of the Pensacola area from his time in the Navy, and they bought a 20 acre "mini farm" in Molino, and spent their time there after his retirement. Bob and Sue loved to travel, so they did quite a bit over the past several years, making as many memories together as they could. They visited Niagra Falls, the Grand Canyon and other US National Parks, including Glacier. They also travelled to many other states, Canada, and took several cruises together to places such as Alaska, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal and more over their 55 years of life together. A Christian by faith, Bob is fondly remembered as an "awesome, loving husband and a great father, a wonderful companion to spend life with". Although sad to be apart, Sue rejoices that Bob is no longer battling the physical illnesses that confined him, and looks forward to the day they will be together for eternity. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob was preceded by his parents, Vern & Marie Steffen. Left to cherish the memories are: his loving wife Sue; their children, daughters Cindy Byers of Cantonment and Donna (Ricky) Judson of Molino, their son, Robert Steffen of Converse, TX; two granddaughters, Ashley Forsythe and Amanda Byers, with one great-grandson, Jackson Forsythe; his only sister, Carol (Terry) Pitts of NE; and his two canine kids, a mountain curr "Riley" and a shepherd mix "Samantha", along with extended family and friends spread over several states. Bob's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service and interment will be held at Barancas National Cemetery at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Steffen family in their time of need, and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers over this trying time.
