Robert Rudolph Ladnier, affectionately known as Bobby, was born on October 14, 1944, in Long Beach, Mississippi. He departed this life on December 18, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy marked by kindness, sincerity, and exceptional talent.
Bobby's early life took him directly from high school into military service, as he was drafted to fight in the Korean War, an experience he held with pride for the rest of his life. After returning from his service, he began a career in which he contributed significantly to his community. Bobby initially worked at a garment factory in Pass Christian, eventually transitioning to a position with the City of Gulfport. His dedicated service saw him rise to the role of road supervisor, from which he ultimately retired.
A graduate of Long Beach High School, class of 1964, Bobby was a quiet man who kept to himself yet was known for his loyalty and kindhearted nature. He possessed an artistic spirit and had a passion for writing and painting, creating works that reflected his vivid imagination and poetic soul. Bobby was a compassionate individual who consistently looked out for others and valued his relationships deeply.
He is survived by his brother, W. G. Ladnier with Elaine; his sister, Linda Lybrand with Jim; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish his memory. Bobby was predeceased by his mother, Alice Inez Ladnier; his father, William Joseph Ladnier; his sisters, Juanita Ishee and Joanne Breland; and his brother, Lawrence Ladnier.
The family invites all who knew Bobby to join them in honoring his life. Visitation will be held on December 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at McHenry, located at 319 US 49, McHenry, MS 39561. A graveside service will take place at Conn Cemetery in Longbeach, MS, at 1:00 PM.
Bobby's life was characterized by his profound sense of duty to his country, his artistic achievements, and the compassion he showed to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
